In honor of his teacher and the founder of Yangtro Choling Retreat Center, Khentrul Rinpoche commissioned a life-size statue of Kyabje Chatral Rinpoche, designed according to his own specifications. The statue, weighing one tonne, could not be transported by any conventional means to the remote site of Neding and was brought up by helicopter.
The statue has been erected at precisely the spot where Chatral Rinpoche is seen standing at the entrance to Neding in this photograph.
